The hall was officially opened on 21 October 1922 as the Soldiers' Memorial Hall and later became known as the Kahibah Memorial Hall. A special train carried soldiers from Newcastle to Kahibah Station for the official opening.

On 20 January 1938 the Kahibah Infants School commenced in the hall with 33 children and remained there until 1951. From 1952 until 19 October1954 the hall was used as the Kahibah Public School. It was divided  into 2 class rooms separated by a curtain. At the back of the hall was a library (not known if this was a school library or a public library). On 20 October 1954 the school was transferred to its current site, 280 metres south of the hall.

After the school moved the hall was used as a picture theatre. The picture theatre closed in the 1960's due to the impact of TV. The hall was later used by a playgroup until December 1995. In 1996 it was demolished to make way for home units. The proceeds from the sale of the land were given to Kahibah Public School P&C.

The Kahibah Roll of Honor (WWI) and the Kahibah Roll of Honour 1939 - 1945 were relocated to the Kahibah Public School Memorial Hall.  Also transferred to the new hall were a photo and plaque for Robert Oliver who was killed in Timor in the defence of Dili on 14 August 1942.
