War Memorials in Australia
Burnie Vietnam Veterans
Memorial Garden

Place:
Burnie, Tasmania, 7320
District: Northwest
Coast
__________________________
In the garden is a sign and a bronze plaque on a bluestone rock.
The Garden was dedicated in 2002 and the plaque was unveiled in 2003. The bronze plaque was manufactured by the Phoenix Foundry in Uralla NSW and includes wording, the Returned From Active Service Badge and two painted badges of the Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia. It is fixed to the rock with studs and glue.
On 18th August each year the Burnie Branch of the Vietnam Veterans Association of Australia conducts a Memorial Service in front of the plaque. The Garden has facilities for erecting a flag pole and banner for that service.
The Memorial Garden was developed as a joint initiative between
the City of Burnie Council and the Burnie Branch of the Vietnam Veterans
Association of Australia. Funding was obtained from the Department of Veterans
Affairs to complete the project.
