The memorial is a white marble obelisk with a broken column sitting on a block of unpolished marble on a granite plinth on a concrete base. Carved into the column is a rifle and olive branch. The height of the monument is 3.5 metres. There is a flagpole on the opposite side of the entrance road.

The monument cost £65. The mason was G. E. Morgan. It was unveiled by A Parsono M.P. 

Of the 16 names listed, at least 11 appear to be of Germanic origin.
