__________________________
The memorial is a marble World War I soldier on a limestone and granite obelisk. The soldier faces west and stands at ease, left foot slightly forward, holding a bayoneted rifle. It stands in a triangular area at the intersection of two roads and in front of the Terowie Institute. The area is grassed and fenced and contains a flagpole and a mortar.
The memorial was erected by public subscription and dedicated in September 1921 by Hon. T. Pascoe M.L.C. During World War II, when Terowie was a major staging camp, the statue 'went missing' and was believed to have shared a tent in the camp before being returned.
