The memorial is a marble statue of a World War I soldier, standing easy and holding a rifle, on a grey granite pediment on a 3-stepped granite base.
The memorial was dedicated on 4 October 1929.
The Monumental Mason was Peter Morgan Jageurs of Jageurs & Son, Parkville who had to include the name of his son, John among the dead.
