Soldiers' Avenue Roll of Honour
"The appended is the list of
soldiers that have gone from this district, and the number correspond
with the ornamental trees standing or planted in the avenue extending from the
traffic bridge to
the railway bridge on the Morongla-road, and from the traffic bridge along the
Grenfell-road. On
the former road there is a double line of trees for a considerable distance, but
the numbers are
consecutive on each side. There may be some discrepancies in the list but it is
as correct as the
committee could make it, with the facilities at their command. The numbers
commence at the
bridge end on each road; the east side of Morongla-road being the river side,
and the north side
of the Grenfell-road being that on the showground side"
