The memorial is a diorama with metal figures on a formed
concrete and aggregate table placed on a concrete plinth. There is a lamp
post with two lights on north west side.
The diorama, created in 1979 by local sculptor Chris Graham and students,
depicts the life of Ernest Corey as a stretcher bearer in France.
Corporal Corey won, in effect, 4 Military Medals, an achievement
unmatched anywhere in the British Commonwealth at anytime.
The memorial was placed in its present position in 1996.
