__________________________

The memorial is a concrete obelisk on a 2-stepped base on a circular brick and gravel aggregate plinth. The whole is set on a circle of red brick pavers.

The park is named after the Eddison family whose rural property 'Yamba' was resumed when the Woden Valley was urbanised in the 1960s. Captain Walter Herbert Eddison served in World War I and all three of his sons died in World War II. The park links to both the pioneers of the district and service personnel. The memorial itself commemorates the men and women who served Australia in time of conflict during World War II. It was erected in 1995 in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the end of the war.

Adjacent to the memorial is a plaque placed by the Woden Valley RSL to record that young people gather here to remember those men and women who served their country so that we may live together in peace.
